Hi, my name is Dirk Boer and I am lucky enough that I can make a living with what I enjoy doing: making stuff.
I have been drawing and programming about my whole life. I did a study somewhere between art and technology, and after that I worked for 7.5 years in the AAA games industry in various roles, shifting around between tech and art.
Right now I'm doing freelance work. If you make something cool, I'd love to help you out!
I have been programming since I was a little kid, starting in BASIC. Six years ago I fell in love with C#, and have been heavily advocating it since then.
Guerrilla Games 2005 - 2012
At Guerrilla Games I've worked on three titles for the Killzone series. Besides my work as a Visual FX Artist I have been doing Tech Art, workflow and Tools for various projects, specialised in usuability, C# and .NET.
Poules.com 2011 - 2012
As a side-project I've worked on Poules.com. Our platform for users to create their own pool for football and other sports. Created with ASP.NET MVC and Entity Framework, hosted on the Windows Azure cloud. Project on hold at the moment, take a look here.
Education 2001 - 2005
I have a Bachelor of Engineering and a Pre-University Education with Mathematics and Physics.

I've worked as a Senior FX Artist on Killzone 3, defining the style and look for particles and other effects throughout the game. Specialised in action related effects and cinematics.
The Bullet Commercial
Commercial created within the Guerrilla game engine. I've done a majority of the special effects. A realtime version is available on the PSN Store.
